Shaun is a twelve-year-old boy. Shaun gets in a fight with a boy who makes jokes about Shauns father who passed away in the Falklands War. After school Shaun walks home. He meets a group of skinheads led by a boy named Woody. A Skinhead is a member of a subculture group with its roots in London. Woody feels sympathy for Shaun and wants him to join their group. Shaun says yes and soon gets accept as a member of the group. Under a party Combo that is an older skinhead who just got out of prison, storms in. After a while the group shatters. One side has Woody as the leader and the other has Combo. Shaun chooses Combos side after being persuaded by him. They start to do criminal stuff and going to meetings with other skinheads.

“This is England” is a story about a twelve-year-old boy that lives in England in 1983. The boys name is Shaun. Shaun lives with his mother since his father passed away in the Falkland’s War. One school day a boy named Harvey makes fun of Shauns dead father. They get into a fight that sends them to the principal. On his way home he meets a couple of skinheads. They take care of him and in the leader Woody, Shaun finds a big brother in Woody and joins the group.

This movie is about a lot of things. Its about love, hate, regret and sorrow.

Shaun who is the main character in the movie has a very unpleasant language and not very much friends. All the other skinheads talk the same way as him; they call people mean things and uses bad words. Combo and Woody are also very important people in this movie. Combo has a very weird humor which can include knifes; he doesn’t care about people he only cares about himself. Woody is almost an opposite. He is nice to people and care about them even if he is a skinhead.     

I think the movie is very interesting. It takes place in the 80s and shows what happened under that time. You learn very much by watching this movie. The story is very good but I think the ending could have showed more of what happened to the people in the movie.
